Aire Drive- Primary Bathroom
Primary Bathroom Remodel done by GI Construction, design by House of a Different Color.
New layout and functional updates: swapped tub and shower locations, removed unnecessary walls in the bathroom, added pocket doors, moved closet door location, expanded closet, adding additional 15 sf, expanded private toilet room (water closet) space, and removed second sink to allow for more storage (kept the plumbing lines for the second sink, but capped it, in case future owner wants to return to a double vanity).
Project highlights
Finishes and Design:
Continued LVP flooring from primary bedroom throughout bathroom and closet.
Incorporated extra-deep soaking tub with a quartz waterfalled surround for a grout-free, luxurious, and functional surface.
Installed an open shower with a stationary glass partition for minimal visual disruption.
Added a 4×4′ window in the shower (privacy film added temporarily until natural landscaping provides coverage).
Designed low entry with a large wet area and centrally located hand shower for maximum utility.
Used faux marble porcelain tile in large format (24×48) with minimal grout, contrasting with geometric shower floor and 3D wall tiles.
Created strong horizontal banding with hand-finished industrial-style 24×24 navy tiles, balancing bright white tiles and pale gray quartz.
Added a single vanity with a petite sink and single-hole faucet for maximum counter space.
Replaced the second sink with a tall storage cabinet for better utility.
Repurposed sideboard as a modern, custom vanity with quartz countertop, matching the tub surround.
Lighting and Electrical:
Installed hand-blown pendant lights on either side of the arched medicine cabinet mirror with smart bulbs for ambiance and visibility.
Added USB and standard plug outlets in black on the navy backsplash tile.
Built additional charging area into the tall cabinet.
Imported brass semi-flush mount light over the bathtub from Morocco, creating romantic shadows.
Used frosted glass doors throughout for privacy while allowing light to flow.
Fixtures and Details:
Installed modern brushed brass fixtures from Moen (tub and shower faucets) and Kingston Brass (sink faucet) for a contrasting look.
Created a separate toilet room with sound-dampening built-in wall treatment.
Added a vent fan with an integrated heat option.
Expanded closet size and redesigned built-in storage.
Capped one sink side for potential future conversion to double sinks.
Overall Aesthetic:
Balanced navy, gray, and black tones with crisp whites and light wood.
Mixed geometric shapes with organic patterns.
Featured 3D porcelain tile from Italy, hand-carved geometric tribal pattern in vanity’s cabinet doors, and hand-finished industrial-style wall tiles.
Utilized waterproof LVP flooring for consistency and practicality.
