DRAPERY & PAINT

This client already had a gorgeous home, newly built, and brimming with modern luxury. We came in to help with the finishing touches: custom window treatments and accent paint to bring out some of the best features of the home. We worked with a local drapery source to create custom solutions for 4 spaces: the great room with its 22 ft ceiling, the wine room, a home office, and the primary bedroom. Before installing the window treatments, we had the walls of the wine room painted a deep charcoal, to continue the drama from the feature wall around the room, enhancing the intimacy of the space.

Drapes fabricated and installed by Roomers Window Fashions & More in Las Vegas, NV.

THE GREAT ROOM

In the great room, we added 22′ long custom, linen-blend, ripple fold, stationary drapes in soft, sandy beige, mounted on contrasting modern black rods.

Functional benefit: While we didn’t design these drapes to open and close over the windows (because who would want to block out that stunning view?!), the drapes do serve a functional purpose. The countless yards of sound-absorbing fabric reduce reverberations in this large, double-height room that opens to an upstairs loft, improving auditory privacy between the spaces and sound quality in the living room.

Design benefit: Soft, neutral panels contrast gently with the white walls in the space and balance the dramatic floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace façade. The fabric softens the rigid rectangular windows and draws the eye to a beautiful chandelier with delicately imperfect round glass globes. The soft shadows created by the ripple folds in the drapery echo the shadows rippling across the mountains outside to draw a subtle connection between the two. The room was still stunning without the drapes, but their functional and design benefits gave the home the finishing touch it was looking for.

THE HOME OFFICE

This gorgeous home office was already so well-appointed, from the modern art to the statement lighting. Our client had a vision for this space, though, and the large blank wall wasn’t sitting well with them.

These black-and-white color-blocked curtain panels add drama to the once-forgotten wall and provide light-filtering privacy from distracting backyard activity during working hours. With a carefully chosen transition point aligning with the height of the cabinets, we maintained the space's top-to-bottom proportions with a daring design statement.

PRIMARY BEDROOM

Creating a luxurious yet comfortable bedroom atmosphere requires balancing a variety of textures, light sources, and privacy levels. Prior to installing these stunning, light-filtering drapes, the sliding doors out to the courtyard had only blackout roller shades, which was great for sleep, but meant sacrificing light for privacy during the daytime.

After installing these soft grey ripple-fold drapes, the clients were able to comfortably enjoy the privacy of their bedroom while soaking in the energizing rays of our Las Vegas sunshine. This improvement gave them the best of both worlds: adding a romantic design feature and making their home a more functional space.

THE WINE ROOM

Oh, what a home! Needless to say, not everyone gets to enjoy a custom-built wine rack like this one! Located just off the kitchen and living room, this space is perfect for entertaining small groups or relaxing solo with a glass of wine to watch the sunset.

While its open-plan layout makes it more readily used, the wine room lacked intimacy and felt more like a pass-through space than a dedicated area for spending time.

In keeping with the drama of this stunning modern home, we wanted this room to set itself apart as a high-contrast focal point, counterbalancing the massive black and grey stone fireplace at the opposite end of the common area. Painting the window wall dark charcoal and flanking each window in voluptuous grey velvet created a cozy backdrop to continue the indulgent luxury environment already established by the wine rack wall.

These simple changes shifted this space from a pass-through wine museum to an intimate wine lounge, inviting guests to linger as they sip.
